The Flower of Paradise
“The Flower of Paradise” is a collection of theological narratives collected and edited by St. Gabriel the Mtsire (18th century). It combines 100 patericons.
The study is based on the earliest autograph of “The Flower of Paradise” (S 128, kept in the archives of the National Center for Manuscripts named after Korneli Kekelidze) from 1796 and is compared with all known manuscripts of this work.
The footnote explains: words that are difficult for today’s readers to understand; Differences between existing manuscripts are presented. The quotations from bible given in the narratives are compared with the edition of the Holy Scriptures by George the Hagiorite, and their places are indicated. If the citation is exactly the same as the original source, parentheses are used for reference; If only meaningfully – a square.
Manuscript S 128 consists of 408 pages. The project was completed in 2017 and published the same year as the book.
Scientific work was carried out by Mikheil Kavtaria and Georgi Kalandadze.
